The Shetland Islands are situated in the North Atlantic, 200 miles from Aberdeen.

There are good air and sea links to Shetland all year round.

The main airport is in the south of the Shetland at Sumburgh and flights are provided by Loganair/BA from all major UK airports. The Faroese airline Atlantic Airways also fly direct from Stanstead to Sumburgh but unfortunatley there service ends on the Friday the festival starts so they can not provide a return air service to Standstead.

The alternative is to use the Northlink ferry service from Aberdeen. This is an overnight ferry service.
